19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
